Don't Mess With Texas (I)

Last month we traveled to lovely San Antonio to attend the wedding of one of Craig's co-workers. While there, the following happened: we saw a disemboweled pigeon; Dillon fell into bird poop; we ate a 3.5-lb cinnamon bun; and a steer "nuzzled" our rental car. Only in Texas y'all!

Here are some photos of the wedding:

So Much to Say

Dillon has been talking up a storm for quite some time now. Although mostly incomprehensible, she does also say plenty of quasi-English including "water," "hi" and something approximating "please." As exciting as this is, the babbling is something precious on its own. Here is a little audio snippet of Dillon working on her communication skills. (I'm not sure when I recorded this, but it was probably sometime last fall.)

Orange You Glad You Know Me?

We recently went out for Chinese food--one of Dillon's favorites. At the end of the meal, the customary orange slices arrived, which she had never sampled, until now...

A Day in the Life

A day in the life of a toddler is filled with all sorts of excitement. Here's a look at Dillon's typical morning:

First, we pick the outfit.

Next we apply our beauty potions.

Then we comb our hair.

Then we play.

Then we sleep.

Sewing: "Lazy Days" Skirt

My project for 2013 was to get over my fear of sewing. As I said in a previous post, there are so many cute things to sew for a little girl and I wanted to get in there! The first thing I made for Dillon was a skirt from Oliver & S called "lazy days"--either because it's super simple to make or because it's comfy so you can wear it when you're feeling lazy. I made two versions (I like to name the clothes too):

"Henley on Thames"

Ready for regatta.

Possible outfit.

"This Skirt Kills Fascists"

Channeling Woody Guthrie.

Possible outfit.

The New Rules of Soccer

We recently drove up to Carlsbad to help Dillon's little buddy Jaxon celebrate his 2nd birthday. Dillon took an immediate liking to soccer and is now obsessed over any kind of ball (it also happens to be her current favorite word).

New rule #1: We play with two balls.

New rule #2: We can hold the ball.

GOOOOAAAAL!

Posing perfectly in the grass.

Everyone's happy and full of cake!
