Caught Between the Moon and New York City (III)

While we spent the first part of our New York trip in the Big Apple, we spent that last half on Long Island visiting a virtual cornucopia of relatives. The grandmas doted on their granddaughter and I got to meet my cousin's two darling twins. Oh, there was also a much needed trip to Friendly's for ice cream!

Taking a stroll around the duck pond in Stony Brook.

The cuteness of the belly...!

These ducks were quacking us up. (Wokka wokka!)

Cousins meeting for the first time.

Hanging out on the same lawn Craig hung out when he was a kid.

Macro photo of a lily.

Macro photo of...some other kind of pink flower.

Turning into quite the gardener.

Caught Between the Moon and New York City (II)

Last month we took Dillon on her longest plane ride yet to the Big Apple. We were in town to celebrate the marriage of a dear college friend. It was great to see many friends and family, some of whom Dillon met for the first time.

Ready for take-off!

Doing a chicken dance with daddy in Central Park.

Swinging on a branch with mommy.

Close-up of some blooms stuck in a park bench.

Craig and Marcos at Brandy's wedding in DUMBO.

Me and Craig at the same wedding!

Fun in the photo booth.

The old college gang together again.

Carlsbad Flower Fields (II)

Um...we took a lot of pictures that day...

In the pink.
Can you tell how desperately she's trying to get out of my arms?

My favorite picture of the day!

I'm pooped.

Carlsbad Flower Fields (I)

A few months ago we trekked up to Carlsbad to visit the flower fields--acres of beautiful Technicolor tecolote ranunculus. Despite the overcast skies, the flowers were gorgeous. Dillon seems like a natural born gardener!

Rows of red ranunculus.

This is good sittin-down dirt.

Close-up of a yellow ranunculus.

It's also good laying-down dirt.

Multicolored ranunculus and poppies.

I might need some new pants after this.

Let's See Those Pearly Whites

This is probably the happiest Dillon will ever be at the dentist's office--soon she will learn to dread it like her parents. The dentist gave her a kid-sized toothbrush, which she promptly used to brush her...hair.

I am pretty sure I don't have any cavities.

Happy Mother's Day!

This year all I wanted for Mother's Day was a picnic in a quiet little park I found a few months ago. After spending an exorbitant amount of money at Whole Foods on picnic supplies, we enjoyed a lovely afternoon. Dillon is modeling the "Via Maris" halter top I made for her too!

I think I see some balls over there.

Eating a challah roll like an apple...why not?

We love the San Diego sun!

Happy Mother's Day!

SeaWorld

A few months ago we decided to buy an annual pass to SeaWorld. It's only a short drive away and we usually go late in the day when the crowds aren't quite as thick. Dillon loves the penguins best, but there is also a sand pit she's awfully fond of. Craig and I are fond of the giant smoked turkey legs!

That is the biggest turtle ever!

One day I'll be big enough for this ride.

Wow.
