Mother's Day Picnic

Another Mother's Day, another feast from Zabar's. As usual, my only Mother's Day request was a picnic. We managed to find a really lovely spot close to home with shady jacarandas and lots of open space for Dillon to roam like the wild buffalo she is. Here she exhibits our lunch:

The fruit course.

The pastrami course.

The salami course.

The rugelach course.

All full!
Happy Mommy.

Ducks and Gorillas--It's a Jungle Out There!

Hey...it's a post that's not about Balboa Park (although technically Morley Field is a part of the entire Balboa Park complex). Dillon had a great time on the playground and Craig actually got in a little weightlifting.

Dillon looks regal atop her ducky.

Monkeying around...on a gorilla.

Japan #1 Friendship Garden Cherry Blossom Good Time

We decided to head to Balboa Park (not again!) to check out the cherry blossom festival at the Japanese Friendship Garden. Alas it was sooooo crowded we didn't even stay long enough to sample any mochi. But the cherry blossoms were pretty!

Concentrating really hard on her art project.

Ciao, Rain!

I bought a new umbrella about 15 years ago. Since we've been in San Diego I used it maybe 5 times. Eventually I decided to buy a new one--and I assume this will last me the rest of my life--and Dillon actually got to try it out during an all-too-rare rainy day here. Couldn't resist a little color splash at the end!

Balboa Park--We Might As Well Live Here

Balboa Park, how we love thee! Also check out her cool thrift-store, leopard-print dress.

Pear blossoms = San Diego "snow."

This kid loves leaves!

I just wanna dance.

Fun times at the train depot.

That Was Then / This Is Now (XI)

It seems like so long ago (and I suppose it was) that Dillon and I first took a stroll through the Balboa Park sculpture garden (I told you we went there all the time). The last time we went the sculptures has changed and the strolling was done sans stroller.

Believe it or not, these pictures were taken exactly two years apart!
