Dog Days of Summer

San Diego is a great city for a dog and Craig and I love taking Zeus everywhere. Once a year, PetCo Park allows dogs into the stadium to watch a Padres game. This is the 3rd year we've attended and we even saw two other Swissies! Our dogs even managed to set the Guinness World Record for most dogs in costume. Read about it here.

How much longer do I have to wear this dumb shirt?

About 6.5 months pregnant.

I hope someone drops a hot dog soon!

I'm impersonating..

...Jacko!

Tutu Cute

I decided to take a sewing class because there are so many things that can be sewn for babies rather than bought for them. Plus I had a brand new sewing machine that wasn't doing much besides collecting dust in the corner. It turns out that making little items for the baby-to-be was a great way to connect with her (apparently being implanted in my uterus isn't connection enough). My first project was making a tutu.

Now obviously Little Donut can't model the tutu just yet, so I would like to introduce you to our pseudo-baby, Pippopotamus. You may know him from such places as Kerin's bedroom and Zeus' mouth. Look for him in future posts strapped into a car seat, baby sling and stroller.

This is so humiliating!

What a Coinkidink Part 2

My good friend Addi used to live in San Diego, but then moved all the way to Florida. It turns out that she, too, is having a baby in October! She came to visit a few weeks ago where we had a surprise brunch for her.

We also went to our favorite dog park, where Addi took some pictures of me and Zeus.

Good boy, Zeus!

Playing hide n seek.

Zeus never met an ice plant he didn't like.

5.5 Months!

These pictures were taken on 6/25/11. At about 5.5 months along, we're more than halfway done gestating. Time seems to be collapsing on itself...so much to do now before she arrives.

How old will she be when the jasmine finally covers the trellis?

My two babies.

Craig crowns Zeus as god of all puppies.

He is a benevolent ruler.

What a Coinkidink

Tasha, a longtime friend from high school (Topcats, anyone?) lives in L.A. with her hubby, Kurt. Turns out she is also pregnant and also due in October. She's a few weeks ahead of me, but I like it that way because she tells me what's going to happen before it happens. A few weeks ago we met up at Dana Point (about halfway between our two burgs). Here we are with our bellies...I'm a little over 5 months and she's pushing 6.

Windy day at the beach? I know! Let's wear skirts.

Cute. Or scary? Scarily Cute?

One of the "benefits" of being 35+ during pregnancy is that the doctors want to sonogram the heck out of your belly. We already have over 20 "photos" of our little sugar beet and she hasn't even been born yet! These last ones were taken on 6/15/2011 at just over 21 weeks. They give us a little insight into her mercurial personality.

1. Here she is "smiling." For an ultrasound, this is about as cute as it gets, right?

All smiles!
2. Suddenly she's got fangs and her eye is starting to look a tad creepy.

Someone's in a bad mood.
3. Just plain scary!

Bears a striking resemblance to...

Emperor Palpatine. Yikes.

Happy Anniversary

Craig and I recently celebrated our fourth anniversary in the same way we celebrate every anniversary. We ate at Nine-Ten--the same restaurant where we had dinner on our wedding night. This time next year, I suppose there will be one more in our party...

Happy Anniversary!
